Education & childrens ministry.
FEM - Uganda: Education
FEM northern Uganda supports the education of orphans and venerable children. The vast majority of widows and parents we work with dream of being able to educate their children so that they might have the opportunities that they and their parents never had.
Uganda has greatly subsidized primary school education and this has enable FEM Northern Uganda to support primary school going orphans through the provision of scholastic materials like text books, exercise books, pencils and pens however secondary school education still remains a big challenge to the orphans who successfully complete their primary school education. FEM Northern Uganda seeks supports from friends and well wishers for school fees for secondary going orphans. One of the sure ways of overcoming poverty in Africa and Uganda is through education.
Jackson Okane is one of the many young kids who had lost hope of continuing with secondary education. Having lost members of his family to the LRA and a father suffering from high blood pressure the future didn’t hold any hope due to the high unaffordable secondary school fees and his fathers illness. FEM Northern Uganda helped linked Jackson to a sponsor who paid his fees and bought him a bicycle to ride to school. Jackson is now living his dream back in school. He takes his education very seriously and encourages his friends who haven’t got a chance to return to school not to lose hope. Jackson’s father who now is on treatment for high blood pressure has also shown remarkable improvement in his health and has joined an agricultural training program at Canaan farm.
